Yes Trades Ltd is seeking an experienced and qualified Gas & Heating Engineer to carry out boiler installations, servicing, repairs, gas safety inspections and heating-system maintenance across domestic and commercial properties. The successful candidate will provide safe, compliant and professional services while delivering excellent customer care. A company van and basic tools will be provided.

Yes Trades Ltd is an established property-services company based in Livingston, Scotland, providing gas, heating, plumbing, electrical and property-maintenance services to domestic and commercial customers. We are looking for a skilled and dependable Gas & Heating Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The successful candidate will attend customer properties to inspect, service, repair and install boilers, gas appliances and heating systems. The role will include boiler fault diagnosis, breakdown repairs, annual servicing, landlord gas safety inspections, heating-system maintenance, radiator work and new boiler installations. You may also be required to attend emergency call-outs and identify additional work needed to leave appliances and properties safe. You will work closely with customers, landlords, letting agents, office staff and other tradespeople. You must be able to explain faults and recommended repairs clearly, maintain accurate job records and complete all required certificates and documentation. Gas work in homes and most workplaces must be completed by a Gas Safe registered engineer who is appropriately qualified for the specific category of work being undertaken. Engineers must carry a valid Gas Safe ID card showing the work they are permitted to perform.

Main responsibilities

Install, service, maintain and repair domestic gas boilers. Diagnose boiler faults, heating failures and hot-water problems. Carry out planned and emergency boiler repairs. Complete annual boiler servicing and safety checks. Carry out landlord gas safety inspections and complete the appropriate records. Install replacement boilers and associated heating controls. Commission newly installed boilers and heating systems. Repair and maintain central-heating systems. Install, repair and replace radiators, valves, pumps and thermostats. Carry out system flushing, cleaning and balancing where required. Inspect gas appliances, flues and ventilation arrangements. Test appliances for safe operation and identify gas-safety defects. Carry out gas-tightness testing and other required safety checks. Identify unsafe appliances and follow the correct safety procedures. Explain faults, repairs and recommendations clearly to customers. Provide accurate estimates of the work, parts and materials required. Complete job sheets, inspection records, certificates and digital reports. Take before-and-after photographs of completed work where required. Record all parts and materials used on each job. Inform the office of additional work or follow-up visits required. Attend emergency and out-of-hours call-outs when arranged. Follow company procedures and all relevant health and safety requirements. Keep the company van, tools and equipment clean and secure. Maintain a professional appearance and respectful manner at customer properties. Leave the work area clean, tidy and safe after completing each job.

Required skills and experience

Current and valid Gas Safe registration. Qualifications covering the gas appliances and work included in the role. Relevant ACS qualifications. Proven experience working as a Gas Engineer or Heating Engineer. Experience servicing, repairing and installing domestic boilers. Strong boiler fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Good understanding of central-heating systems. Knowledge of gas safety procedures and relevant regulations. Ability to complete landlord gas safety records and other certificates accurately. Ability to work independently and manage assigned appointments. Good customer-service and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe workmanship. Ability to use digital job-management or certification systems. Full UK driving licence. Right to work in the United Kingdom. Willingness to attend emergency or out-of-hours jobs when required.

Experience with a wide range of boiler manufacturers. Experience completing boiler installations and replacements. Experience working in rented and landlord-managed properties. Experience with commercial heating systems. LPG, oil or commercial gas qualifications. Experience with smart thermostats and modern heating controls. Experience with unvented hot-water systems. Experience with heat pumps or renewable-heating systems. Experience with system flushing and water treatment. Experience working with letting agents, housing providers or property-management companies. Experience completing digital Gas Safety Records. Plumbing experience in addition to gas and heating work. Experience supervising apprentices or junior engineers.
