Yes Trades Ltd is seeking a qualified and reliable Electrician to carry out electrical installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and repair work across domestic and commercial properties. The successful candidate will deliver safe, compliant and high-quality work while providing excellent service to customers.

Yes Trades Ltd is an established property-services company based in Livingston, Scotland, providing electrical, plumbing, heating and maintenance services to domestic and commercial customers. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Electrician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will attend customer properties to diagnose electrical faults, complete installations and repairs, carry out testing and inspections, and ensure that all work is completed safely and professionally. The role may include planned electrical work, responsive repairs, landlord electrical services, consumer-unit work, rewiring, lighting and socket installations, fault finding, emergency call-outs and the preparation of relevant electrical certificates and reports. You will be expected to communicate clearly with customers and management, accurately record the work completed and identify any additional repairs or safety issues. The position requires someone who can work independently, manage appointments efficiently and maintain a high standard of workmanship. All electrical work must be performed by a suitably competent person and in accordance with applicable health and safety requirements and the current version of BS 7671. The IET identifies BS 7671 as the UK national standard for electrical installations.

Main responsibilities

Carry out domestic and light commercial electrical installations, maintenance and repairs. Diagnose electrical faults and provide safe, effective solutions. Install and replace sockets, switches, lighting, wiring and electrical accessories. Carry out consumer-unit installations, replacements and upgrades. Perform electrical inspection and testing. Complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports where suitably qualified. Complete minor electrical works and installation certificates where required. Carry out full or partial rewiring work. Respond to electrical breakdowns and emergency call-outs. Identify electrical hazards, defects and non-compliant installations. Explain required work and recommendations clearly to customers. Provide accurate job notes, photographs and supporting documentation. Record materials used and any additional work required. Follow company procedures and health and safety requirements. Maintain tools, equipment and company property responsibly. Work efficiently with office staff, customers, landlords and other tradespeople. Ensure properties are left safe, clean and tidy after completing work. Maintain a professional and respectful approach at customer premises.

Required skills and experience

Relevant recognised electrical qualifications. Practical experience working as an Electrician. Current knowledge of the applicable edition and amendments of BS 7671. Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Experience with electrical installation, maintenance and repair work. Ability to inspect and test electrical installations, where qualified. Good understanding of electrical safety and safe isolation procedures. Ability to work independently and manage assigned jobs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Good customer-service and communication skills. Ability to complete job records and certificates accurately. Full UK driving licence. Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Preferred skills

Inspection and testing qualification. Experience completing EICRs. Experience in domestic and commercial properties. Experience working with landlords, letting agents or housing providers. Experience with consumer-unit upgrades and rewiring. Experience with emergency electrical call-outs. Competent-person scheme registration or experience working for a registered contractor. Experience with fire-alarm or emergency-lighting systems. Experience with EV chargers, solar systems or battery-storage systems. Experience using digital job-management or certification software. Own tools and testing equipment, depending on the employment arrangement.
